Application and general properties
water-based satin finish screen printing ink for carton
Chemical structure: aqueous dispersion of acrylic resins
Appearance: white or coloured (depending on the used pigments) transparent base
pH-factor: 7 - 8
Viscosity 20.000 - 25.000 mPas measured by Haake's rotational viscosimeter
Storage
in closed container, between +5 and +20° C for 1 year
The prints attain their final hardness 24 hours after complete drying. The fresh prints are not scratch-resistant. The mechanical resistance of the prints can be improved, if the drying temperature in the heating tunnel after printing the last colour is set higher.
Recommended mesh
Polyester 68-120
Photo emulsion
According to our experience, FOTECOAT 1010, 1019, 1915 combined photo emulsion is suitable.
We advise, when you work with any of water-based graphical screen printing inks of COLORPLAN, damp the screen before putting the ink on (spray water evenly to the squeegee side of the screen).
Prevent ink drying during running the print, use an ultra-sound water evaporator or continuous spraying around the screen.
Application
The uncoloured base can be coloured with the usual water-based pigment concentrates.
e.g. PRINTEX pigments :
guide recipe:
0 - 12 % Printex pigment
100 - 88 % transparent base
(This ink combination provides glossy, full but transparent print.)
guide recipe for opaque ink:
0 - 12 % coloured pigment
0 - 15 % white pigment
100 - 73 % transparent base
Properties of the print, light fastness and outdoor weather resistance are depending on the used pigment.
The ready to print coloured inks of GRAFIPRINT KC range have excellent light fastness, and does not contain heavy metals and organic solvents. The ink can be ordered in any PANTONE shade.
In printing brakes cover the screen with a 3-4 mm ink layer.
Screen wash-up
Use water. Dried ink residues can be removed by using REMOVAL. Apply to the screen and use a sponge for washing. REMOVAL can only be applied to a wet screen.
Note
Please, always make a test print before starting production runs. Make sure that expected fastness properties can be achieved with the actual base materials within your technological conditions!
