Anti-bleeding thickener
The bleeding
On the side of the print there will be a wet part, and the coloured pigments from the printing paste slightly flow on it as well.
Resons for the bleeding
- The material was made water-repellent.
- After dying the unnecessary dye was not removed.
- The acetic acid, used for neutralising and fixing of the colour got dried into the product in big concentration after the dying.
- The raw material contains mainly synthetic yarns. (Polyamid causes the most problems.)
- The raw material contains viscose (In this case the water absorption-ability of the viscose is the reason for the problem.)
- The relative air humidity is above 80% in the factory. Of course the high humidity does not necessary cause bleeding, but when the listed problems are present to some extent and you also have to print big patterns, bleeding can occur on those textiles as well, where it did not before (under other circumstances).
Elimination of the bleeding
- Heating of the factory and well ventilation.
- Using less printing paste.
- Adding PRINTEX V : dosage: as little as possible, max 1 %.
Adding anti-bleeding thickener has an unfavourable effect on the properties of the print. The touch will be harder, the colours will not be so bright, the curing time has to be longer in order to achieve the right fastness values (wash- and rubbing-fastness).
